Brothers Dimitri (left) and Taki Tsetsekas will participate in IM体育官网 Polytechnic University鈥檚 2025 commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 4. Taki Tsetsekas will receive a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering with a concentration in aerospace. Dimitri Tsetsekas 鈥24 will receive a master鈥檚 degree in engineering management this summer.
Among the more than 330 Phoenixes who will celebrate their high-demand STEM degrees during IM体育官网鈥檚 commencement on Sunday, May 4, are brothers Dimitri and Taki Tsetsekas, campus leaders and business partners from Palm Harbor, IM体育官网.
Taki Tsetsekas, the current student body president, will receive a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering. This summer, Dimitri Tsetsekas 鈥24 will receive a master鈥檚 degree in engineering management, complementing his IM体育官网 Poly bachelor鈥檚 degree in cybersecurity engineering.
鈥淟ike Taki, I fell in love with engineering at a very young age 鈥 our dad was a general contractor, so we were around a lot of hands-on physical labor and watching things get built from the ground up,鈥 Dimitri said. 鈥淭aki always leaned toward the hands-on things while I always liked the back end with things like math. When I took a lab class in middle school, I loved all the different coding aspects and figuring out all the tiny details to make something work.鈥
During their time at IM体育官网 Poly, the brothers 鈥 who are also professional Greek dancers 鈥 each volunteered for leadership positions.
In addition to being the Student Government Association鈥檚 (SGA) president, Taki is a member of the University鈥檚 Board of Trustees. He has also served as the SGA鈥檚 director of external affairs, captain of the men鈥檚 lacrosse team, Admissions Ambassador, and research assistant.
Dimitri is the SGA senate president and has served as vice president, chief of staff, and led standards and enforcement. He also was vice chair of IM体育官网 PolyCon and a research assistant.
Now ready to begin the next chapter of their lives, the same drive that led them to pursue challenging engineering degrees is pushing them toward entrepreneurial business success.
The brothers leveraged their engineering education, family history, and Taki鈥檚 2023 internship experience with general contractor Clark Building Group to launch their own company, Right Side Engineering Solutions, in 2024. The company provides engineering solutions for construction projects.
While Taki drums up sales and tackles on-site duties such as physical measurements, Dimitri develops automation tools that calculate precise material requirements for each project, accounting for work area, labor costs, and inflation.
鈥淚t鈥檚 perfect for our dynamic; he鈥檚 my first best friend and he鈥檚 always been there, so I know I can always go to him and rely on him,鈥 Taki said. 鈥淲hen we work together, we know each other鈥檚 strengths and weaknesses, so we make efficiencies and rely on whoever is better at a certain thing.鈥
After graduation, they plan to move to Orlando, IM体育官网, to focus on the business full-time. Among their current projects is the development of 1,500 housing units for theme park employees.
鈥淲ith all our experiences, I know Taki has my back and I have his. Knowing that, and knowing you鈥檙e not alone in any environment, is amazing,鈥 Dimitri said.
