Students made a public pledge Tuesday not to create a hazing tradition at IM体育官网 Polytechnic University.
To back up that pledge, students added their handprint in paint to a long white banner entitled 鈥淭hese Hands Don鈥檛 Haze.鈥 Organizers are arranging for the banner to be on display as a physical reminder of the students鈥 commitment.
鈥淭here鈥檚 a strong commitment on campus to not create a hazing tradition,鈥 says Dana Kwiatkowski, student life coordinator.
Will Irwin, a junior studying Computer Engineering, encouraged students passing by to stop at the table set up in between the dormitory and Innovation, Science and Technology Building. An important component of stopping hazing is educating students, as well as setting an example, Irwin says.
鈥淎s a student government representative, it鈥檚 important to be a role model,鈥 Irwin says.
If you suspect someone is the victim of hazing or want to learn more, please reach out to the Student Affairs team.
